Evodos and Raton sign long-term partnership

Raton and Evodos conclude a long-term partnership for the engineering and manufacturing of Evos centrifugal separators. For a period of 5 years minimum, Raton will be the manufacturer of integrated Evodos centrifuges.

Evodos develops centrifugal separators, which have a high separation efficiency without the use of chemicals.  Outsourcing of engineering and manufacturing, is a strategic choice of Evodos. Raton is the perfect partner.

Marco Brocken, general manager of Evodos: “Our choice for Raton is very clear. Raton has a very professional attitude, it works with the most modern 3 D engineering software, it has a brand new, well equipped production facility in Breda and Raton is very strong in the food market.
A market which is very important for Evodos, because we separate without flocculants or chemicals. Last but not least, there is an excellent teamwork on management level as well as on the shop floor. They are capable of thinking along with us in a productive and creative manner, which are very important conditions for success. Because we are an organisation with great ambitions.”

Also Dominique van de Wiel, company manager of Raton, is very enthusiastic: “I love good ideas.  For many years now, Raton has taken the lead when it comes to innovation and renewal. The combination Evodos, with its pioneering technology, and Raton, with its years of experience especially in the food industry, is a “match made in heaven”.
We obtain access to high-grade technology which is capable of recycling and extracting material. This fits perfect in our adopted idea of “Cradle to Cradle”. The separation without chemicals is a perfect example of this.
We see a lot of possibilities for the Evodos technology and I think that most of its applications are yet unknown. But that’s the power of Raton: looking for solutions. Also our specialty “Engineered solutions”, the total package in which Raton takes care of the whole track, from engineering till implementation, has proven  to be a success.
As far as Raton is concerned:  Raton and Evodos: a perfect match.

The partnership has already reached the point where the first series of machinery will leave the production facility in mid-October. It concerns machinery for the agricultural sector ( fertilizer separation ), cleaning in place systems for the food industry and general purpose machinery.

Raton
For many years now, Raton is the obvious choice when it comes to the realisation of process installations and everything closely connected to it.  For example: engineering, automation, consultancy, service, but also the development of its own products - the Clean Steam Systems, the mobile CIP systems and the total package, Engineered Solutions- form a major part of Ratons activities.
Raton is active in the following areas: Food industry, pharmaceutical – and chemical industry, beverage industry.

Evodos France and distributor STOC Environnement purchase a demonstration separator

Evodos France has ordered a new demonstration separator. This machine will be mounted on a trailer, complete with a mini-laboratory. The combination will be used throughout France for demonstrations and testing at clients.

Evodos France is the distributor for Evodos in France. In the past half year Evodos France did use the Dutch demonstration separator. But enthusiasm amongst prospective customers in France increases. Reason to buy a new machine.

Director Erik Slot explains: " Our customers are very curious to the Evodos technology. We truly want to show the capabilities of this technology. That’s why we made the decision to acquire a dedicated demonstration machine. It is a fully automated 3-phase machine with a flow of 3.5 m3/hour. The machine has GSM remote servicing control built in as standard. With this machine we can demonstrate at life scale at the premises of the client. If necessary, it is also possible to perform duration tests. Because we built in a laboratory the test results are instantly available. Therefore, this machine basically will sell itself. From November on we will tour around France. Our expectations are high”.

Evodos France is active in expanding it’s distribution network. Contracts are now closed with three sub-agents. After a first evaluation of the demonstrations and tests the focus will be on treating pig manure, various processes in the food industry and cleaning the cooling liquids used in the grinding industry, especially glass and ceramics.

From March 9 till 11 Evodos France is present with a boot on the CFIA trade fair in Rennes (Bretagne). In the heart of the French food industry Evodos expects to create a solid foundation for growth.

Technotopic 1: Fibrous products, mixed with soft solids

Dewatering liquids composed of a combination of particles with a fibrous structure as well as soft solids is a known cumbersome technical problem. Evodos has gained much experience in this work during the processing of animal manure from the intensive livestock-farming industry. We found an excellent solution by combining two technologies.

Many liquids do contain a combination of microfibres and soft solids. This is also the case at animal manure. Over the past half year, Evodos has performed numerous tests on pig manure. This mixture contains lots of fibres, but it also contains hard particles and soft particles such as grease. The system developed by Evodos first removes the fibres with a jack press. The dry solid content of the separated ‘fibre-cake’ is up to 38%. The next step is processing the filtrate with the Evodos machine. In this step both the hard particles and the soft solids are separated from the mixture. This combination of two technologies reveals a unique solution.

Many other applications of mixtures which combine fibres and soft solids are applicable to be treated with this integration of technologies. An example is slaughterhouses: With the jack press all larger particles are removed. Then the Evodos machine removes the fines and the soft/greasy solids. This leads to a number of advantages with respect to DAF or biological systems, namely:

1. The installation is not dependent on biological processes. It is possible to switch it on and off when requested.
2. No chemicals are necessary. The purchase costs, handling costs and precious discharge of polluted waste do become obsolete.
3. The required footprint is much smaller with this compact installation.
4. The energy usage is much lower.

The same advantages apply to the foods industry: vegetable detritus, potato peels and such. Here too the larger particles and fibres are first separated with a jack press. And in the second step the Evodos machine removes the smaller particles, free starch etc.  This also leads less capacity requirements for the subsequent biological system.

Evodos has engineered the combination of these two technologies into an integrated installation. Complete with the necessary buffer tanks, measurement and control processes, heating-, cleaning- and service facilities.  The techniques are integrated in 20-feet container. Raton LTD in Breda already started constructing these integrated machines.
