Evodos breaks the 1 kWh/m3 energy barrier

Recent measurements on Evodos machines running in the field proved that the energy requirement has dropped to below 1 kWh per cubic meter feed flow. At 4.0 m3/hour we measure a consumption of 0,95 kWh. For a separation unit with this flow rate this is quite amazing. Evodos is proud to have achieved this breakthrough.

Just to put things straight: At energy cost of € 0,08/kWh and a 0,1% concentration (1 g/liter), the energy cost for harvesting is only Euro 0,08 per kilo of dry material.

What are the benefits of this low energy requirement. In first instance we all think of the reduction on the energy bill. But there are more advantages:.

  1. Less maintenance
The root cause for Evodos in using only a minimum of energy is in it's highly effective separation technology. This only requires 3.000G to separate fines with a density almost equal to the liquid phase. On its turn the low G-force leads to less vibrations which again has a huge positive effect on maintenance costs.
  2. Low noise
The low G-force leads to less rotations per minute and hence a low noise level. To have a regular conversation next to a running Evodos unit is no problem.
  3. Few infrastructure requirements
The low G-force and self balancing capabilities of the Evodos requires no specific foundation. It can run easily standing on a normal concrete floor (e.g. a Stelcon industrial floor slab).
  4. CO2 Sequestration
In CO2 sequestration projects a low energy requirement is critical. The energy required to transform the CO2 should produce less CO2 then is sequestrated. Evodos is selected in CO2 sequestration projects particularly because of tis low energy requirement. For example in harvesting algae.

  5. Fuel production
The same applies to fuel production. When converting algae into fuel it is key to harvest the algae with a minimum of energy. That is where Evodos comes in.
